Dallas Keuchel on World Series Hangover: “We’re Not The Cubs, We Have Better Players”

World Series - Houston Astros v Los Angeles Dodgers - Game One

The regular season hasn’t even started, and already people are questioning whether the Houston Astros can repeat as World Series Champions.

In 2017, the team picked up a huge lead in the American League West and never let it go, ultimately ending the season with a ridiculous 21-game lead over the Los Angeles Angels.

The questions surrounding the team is whether they’ll come out of the gate strong or falter, just like the 2017 Chicago Cubs did after they won the World Series. For that question, Dallas Keuchel has an answer for all the critics.

The Houston Astros star pitcher made it clear that the club won’t deal with the same issues the Cubs faced, because they have better players.

“We’re not the Cubs,” Astros lefty Dallas Keuchel told the Washington Post when asked about the possibility of a Cubs-like World Series hangover in 2018. “I firmly believe,” he went on, “we have better players.”

The Astros are currently projected to win an absurd 101 games in 2018. The Cubs were projected to win 94 games in 2017, but they won 92 before being eliminated in the NLCS. It’s evident the Astros have all the talent to get back to the World Series, but many variables can change after playing so deep into the playoffs. And with the regular season starting earlier than ever, injuries can quickly turn a season upside down.
