Panthers Goalie Robert Luongo Offers Powerful Tribute to Parkland Victims: “Enough Is Enough

Roberto Luongo Moving Speech Parkland Shooting Victims

The Florida Panthers held a sombre ceremony in remembrance of the victims of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Thursday night. It included a video tribute showing the names and faces of the 17 students and educators who lost their lives, as well as a powerful speech by Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo.

Luongo, a longtime Parkland resident, did not specifically call for more gun control. But he did call on the community to do something.

“No child should have to go through that. Its terrible,” Luongo said. “It’s time for us as a community to take action. It’s enough. Enough is enough. We gotta take action. To the families of the victims, our hearts are broken for you…To the teachers at the school, you guys are heroes, protecting your children.”

Luongo then turned his attention to the Stoneman Douglas students who rallied for gun control at the Florida state capitol this week.

“I’ve been watching the news, and I’ve been seeing what the kids from Stoneman Douglas have been doing, and I am very, very proud of you guys,” Luongo said. “You guys are brave. You guys are an inspiration to all of us, and at the end of the day, you guys are what’s giving us hope for the future.”
